JOB TITLE: Shop Supervisor - Turning
DEPARTMENT: Turning
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: QC Manager
SUBORDINATES: Production Personnel
PURPOSE: Overseeing production, personnel, quality, scheduling, inventory, equipment setup and maintenance
Position Summary:
In this leadership position, you will be responsible for supervising production
employees, scheduling, inventory, quality, organizational skills and good
product flow practices. Highly effective hands-on individual with excellent
human relation skills who can manage concurrent projects.
Critical Functions:
To utilize CNC swiss type screw machines, CNC gang style lathes,
and operate various machine shop equipment to produce precision machined parts. Proper use and setup of measuring tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, comparators and optical CMM, including visual inspection of parts.) Use exceptional set-up skills on production equipment and make required machine adjustments such as off-sets, to maintain required manufacturing consistency per drawing and customer specification, and trouble shoot variations in processes. Meet and exceed targeted production goals and practice safe work habits. Maintain clean working environment, perform routine preventative maintenance and other duties as directed by the plant manager.
Requirements:
Able to read geometrical/dimensional mechanical drawings. Capable of editing and writing CNC codes. Competency in use of precision measuring instruments.
Mechanical ability, quality mentality, willingness to learn and change, committed career path of "machining", and a positive attitude.
3-5 years experience in first line supervision in a busy work environment and able to motivate and lead a production crew.
